1. Who these terms are with
This service is provided by Mai Intelligence AB ("Mai", "we", "us"), a company registered in Sweden (org. no. 559544-0891, VAT SE559544089101), registered address Hagåkersgatan 14 D, 431 41 Mölndal, Sweden. By creating an account or subscribing, you ("you", the "customer") agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. The service
Mai is a satellite-based forest-monitoring service. For the land areas you define, Mai analyses recent satellite imagery on a recurring basis and notifies you of likely harvest, storm damage, fire damage, and drought stress, and offers context from local weather history and a chat assistant. Imagery cadence depends on satellite revisit times and cloud cover and is typically every few days but is not guaranteed at a fixed interval.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate information, keep your login secure, and be responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 and, if acting for an organisation, authorised to bind it.
4. Plans, pricing and billing
- Free. The Free tier lets you monitor one forest you own (up to 200 ha) for a limited number of satellite passes, at no cost and without a payment card. It carries no payment obligation, and we may change or withdraw it at any time.
- Paid plans are billed quarterly and exclude VAT: Stand at SEK 500 per quarter (change detection on your own land, up to 200 ha) and Forester at SEK 2,000 per quarter (all features, up to 2,000 ha). Forests above 2,000 ha are by separate arrangement — contact us.
- Payment is processed by Stripe. Paid subscriptions renew automatically each quarter until cancelled.
- VAT is applied according to Swedish and EU rules; valid business VAT IDs are handled per the applicable reverse-charge rules.
- Some features carry fair-use limits — for example, the chat assistant is subject to a periodic usage allowance. We may change pricing or plan features for future billing periods with reasonable advance notice; changes never apply retroactively to a period already paid.
5. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel at any time from your account or by contacting us. Your subscription — and monitoring — continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, after which it stops. Fees already paid for the current period are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by mandatory law.
6. EU consumers — right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the EU, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract without giving a reason.
Because monitoring begins immediately, by subscribing you expressly request that we begin providing the service during the 14-day withdrawal period, and you acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed / for digital content supplied to you. This reflects Articles 9 and 16 of Directive 2011/83/EU.If you wish to withdraw before performance has begun, contact support@m-ai.earth. This section does not limit any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your country of residence.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service: no unlawful use, no attempts to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the platform, no reselling or scraping the service, and no submitting areas or content you have no right to submit.
8. What Mai is — and is not
Mai provides best-effort signals derived from satellite imagery and weather data. It is not a guarantee, and it is not professional forestry, legal, financial, or insurance advice.- Detections may be missed, delayed, partial, or false. Cloud cover, satellite revisit timing, and image quality affect what can be seen and when.
- The four detection types are provided on a reasonable-efforts basis and reflect what Mai's own satellite analysis is designed to surface: harvest, storm damage, fire damage, and drought stress. Mai's own analysis does not detect everything that can happen to a forest; in particular, it does not provide early-stage pest or disease detection, or real-time fire detection.
- You remain solely responsible for decisions about your land and for physical inspection. Mai is a complement to, not a replacement for, your own judgement and on-the-ground checks.
Mai may also display information from third parties and public authorities — for example weather, fire-risk, active-fire, and forest-health datasets — to give you added context. This information is provided "as is," is not produced by Mai, and Mai does not warrant its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. The disclaimers in this section apply to it equally.
9. Availability
We work to keep the service available and reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable.
10. Intellectual property and your data
We own the Mai platform, software, and brand. You retain ownership of the area boundaries and content you submit. You grant us a licence to process that content to operate, secure, and improve the service, consistent with our Privacy Policy (including the chat-improvement opt-out described there).
11. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mai is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for loss arising from reliance on a detection (or absence of one), tree or timber loss, or business losses. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any mandatory statutory rights you have as a consumer. Those rights are unaffected.12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by email or in the app and the effective date above will change. If you continue using Mai after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, you may cancel.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Swedish courts. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.
